Little Mix stole the show at this year’s Glamour Women of the Year Awards, picking up the prize for Best Musical Act. The chart-topping British girl group wowed on the red carpet earlier in the evening as they arrived together at the annual event at Berkeley Square Gardens (London). Just hours later girls were up on stage to accept their award, presented by Greg James.
Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson has pulled out of another gig after injuring her ankle during a show in Kuala Lumpur.
She apparently tore a ligament during a vigorous dance routine at the Malaysian capital’s Live at Life Centre on Saturday night and had to leave the stage halfway through the set – but the show went on without her.
The singer posted a picture of her swollen foot and captioned it: ‘Torn the ligaments in my ankle but resting up for the Singapore show on Monday… Just maybe no dancing for me.’
Jesy shared a photo of her swollen foot on Instagram after the show, telling her fans: ‘Oh god guys it’s always me so so gutted I couldn’t perform for the last part of the KL show tonight!’
In March the group had to cancel two shows in Belfast, which were later rescheduled, after Jesy came down with a mysterious illness and there were question marks over further shows in the UK.
The group are next scheduled to perform at Singapore’s Star Performing Arts Centre on Monday
Jesy has been having an emotional time of late and before her previous cancelled shows she had burst into tears after giving a speech about body confidence on stage in Dublin.
Addressing the crowd, she began: ‘If you’re ever feeling really c**p about yourself or not feeling confident this is exactly why we wrote this song…’ before pausing to compose herself.
While her bandmates rushed to comfort her, the star struggled to hold back her tears as she continued: ‘I’m so emotional. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.’
HOME and Away and Neighbours producers listen up — Little Mix want in.
As fans of the Australian TV soaps, the British girl group say they were approached to make a cameo on one of the shows.
Having played shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne at the weekend, the girls — Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson — couldn’t fit a day of shooting into their schedule but have vowed to appear on either show in the future.
“We would love to do a cameo,” Thirlwall said. “We were asked. Absolutely.”
As a bit of trivia, Pinnock was named after Jesse from Home and Away and Edwards is “obsessed with surfer boys”. Edwards, who was engaged to One Direction’s Zayn Malik, said: “Any hot surfer guys, Australia is the place for men.”
Ed Sheeran made a cameo on Home and Away last year while Neighbours has had a revolving door of high profile guests over the years.
Little Mix wrapped their Australian tour in Melbourne on Saturday night and have now flown to Japan.
They’re currently enjoying chart success with new single, Hair, a collaboration with Sean Paul, and are still on the charts with Secret Love Song that featured Jason Derulo.
And they revealed a new album will be recorded by the end of the year. Top of their hit list for collaborations would be Macklemore and Nicki Minaj.
“We want to do some more things with rappers as well, something cool and a bit more r and b,” said Nelson. “We actually have no idea what it will be yet but we would like it to be something you’d hear at the club and still quality music. We don’t want to go too far from where we are now but each album we are growing up.”
Pinnock added: “We always like to change things up. We wouldn’t want to bring out an album that everyone would expect it to be.”
Little Mix weigh in on Justin Bieber’s ‘no photo’ policy | nova937
Justin Bieber was in the headlines again this week for declaring that he no longer will take ANY photos with fans. So Smallzy asked uber girlband Little Mix what they thought of the ‘no photo’ policy and whether the Bieb’s is doing the right thing.
Justin Bieber has been in the spotlight since he was 12-years-old, so with nearly 10 years of fame under his belt does he have the right to call it quits on taking fan photos? These are the people who have made him rich and famous.
However, is it fair we keep making the Bieb’s feel like (in his words) ‘a zoo animal’
Smallzy asked UK girlband Little Mix and you may be surprised by their answers!
Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh Anne are going to take over Wembley as 80,000 of you Get Weird with them!
They were one of the most popular performers from last year, and Little Mix are back to perform at this year’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone! Little Mix are the first act to be announced for this year’s line up for their third year in a row – and we can tell from the MASSIVE reaction on Twitter that you’re just as excited that they’re back as they are!
When we caught up with them backstage at their ‘Get Weird’ tour, Jesy told us that we can expect the unexpected from their set this year, “I feel like we always like to be different and do something that surprises everyone and we’ve got a really good trick up our sleeves!”
Jade added, “It’s mental, it’s very surreal but doing the Balls is one of our favourite things.”
Capital’s Dave Berry, George and Lilah caught up with the girls – find out what they had to say about their return to the Ball:
Capital’s Summertime Ball with Vodafone, returns to the world-famous Wembley Stadium on Saturday June 11th. Tickets go on sale this Thursday (28th April) at 8am. Keep it Capital Breakfast all this week as we reveal even more HUGE hit music acts coming together for this summer’s BIGGEST party.
Little Mix have soared to success in their own right since starring on the X-factor in 2011, but fame and fashion go hand in hand. With screaming fans in the background, it seems almost impossible that being in one of the most popular girl bands around at the moment, Leigh-Anne would get a moments peace to get to talk to us about her personal style and the latest news from the band’s tour.
Where do you get your major style influences from?
It’s generally down to what I like and what I feel comfortable in, I love looking at what the latest trends are on the runway and incorporating that into my style. To be honest, my boyfriend is really into fashion as well and he’s the one that really got me into it but I’ve always been interested. He introduced me to different brands and different designers, he’s got a good eye for things. I think a lot of things I’ve worn in the past he’s had a lot of input in.
How would you describe your style?
Quite chic, with an edge but at the same time I will literally wear anything! I love trying new things, that’s what it’s all about and I don’t think you should put a label on it. Wear what you want, whenever you want and what you feel good in.
So tell us about your blog Leigh Loves, when did you start blogging and where did the inspiration to blog come from?
I started over a year ago, I’ve always been into fashion but it’s not just about that, it’s a lifestyle blog too, because me and my boyfriend love to travel and see new things and try new food so I thought why not try and blog about it and tell everybody what I’m doing. I started off with the fashion and went onto the travel side but I really enjoy doing it. I used to do creative writing and English for my A-levels and I love writing so I thought I’ll have a crack at it!
Do you find it difficult to keep up with it when you’re busy on the road?
Yeah, it’s really hard. I might not post for a couple of months because I literally have no time. It’s a hobby for me, it’s there for when I can do it, my fans love it as well so it’s not regimented. There was one time when we finished a long day’s work in America where we had a photographer who was with us all day and I said to him, “Do you mind just taking some blog shots for me?” and we found this really cool alleyway and took shots of my denim outfit from Marques Almeida and Jess was saying to me “What are you doing you’re crazy! Go to bed!” ‘cause we’d had such a long day but I have a passion for it.
Who’s your favourite designer and why?
It’s so hard to choose one! And I always come across new designers that I love but who I would say at the moment, I really like Acne, it’s not always just the same that’s what I like about it.
Is it better to be bold and brave with your fashion choices or do you prefer more understated looks?
Y’know my boyfriend is quite understated with his but I love to be bold, so he helps me find a middle ground but at the same time if something’s really cool that stands out and is really bold then I’ll just wear it because I’m not afraid to try new things.
Do you think body shape matters when it comes to fashion choices?
I think you need to choose whatever you feel comfortable in, so if you want to accentuate a part of your body then choose something that will flatter yourself but you should just wear whatever you want. It’s all about taking risks and feeling free. That’s what I’ve found for me in the group, fashion is a way of standing out.
You’ve already got your own fragrance and Little Mix have just become the global ambassadors for the sports brand USA Pro, would you ever be inspired to produce your own fashion line?
That is the absolute dream. I would love for us to do it as a group so fingers crossed we’ll be able to do that, but even like ten years down the line I would love to have my own, that would be amazing so you never know what could happen!
