The 22 year old praised his South Shields fiancee following his headline hitting exit from One Direction

Zayn Malik has broken his silence after his much publicised exit from One Direction to praise his South Shields other half Perrie Edwards for all her support.

Zayn sent social media into overdrive when he announced he was leaving the biggest band in the world on Wednesday afternoon, a week after cheating rumours circulated following the publication of a picture with his arm around another girl in Thailand.

Fiancee Perrie had kept a low profile and maintained a dignified silence about the situation but that didn’t stop angry One Direction fans pointing the finger at her for being behind Zayn’s decision to leave bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson in the middle of their global tour.

Sending a barrage of hateful tweets her way, some even went as far as likening the 21 year old to Yoko Ono who decades ago was blamed by devotees of The Beatles for being a corruptive influence on John Lennon.

But giving his first interview since his One Direction departure, Zayn never hinted that Perrie was responsible for his One Direction departure, only that she’d been there for him.

The 22 year old told The Sun that she was ‘alright’ about his decision and that she was ‘a good girl’.

Perrie herself has yet to make any comment on the matter.

Little Mix have teased details of their upcoming third album.

The group revealed during an online fan hangout that they are in the final stages of recording, that all the songs for the LP “are already there” and that the finished package is “nearly ready”.

The X Factor 2011 winners confirmed that they worked with Jessie J, Jess Glynne, producers Electric (who worked on ‘Towers’ from Salute) and Camille Purcell on tracks for the album, adding that the project was “a new sound” for them.

“I think we just wanted to do something different,” said Jade Thirlwall, “I think that’s why it’s (taken) so long as well. We wanted to make a sound that was still us, but was changing a bit.”

“It’s all about progression, isn’t it?” chipped in Leigh-Anne Pinnock. “We just hope you guys love it as much as us,” she added.

Little Mix are expected to release the as-yet-untitled LP later this year.

The group previously described the first single from the release as “a bit of a risk”.

Little Mix say their third album is finished and are just “adding little touches” to it.

Speaking to Newsbeat at the Brit Awards, they say: “We’ve been working on the album for quite a while, we just want it to be perfect.”

They say the first single from the album has been chosen and is a “whole new sound”.

“It’s literally completely different to anything we’ve done before,” they tell Newsbeat.

“Words can’t describe how excited we are for this single.”

Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Anne say the single is “a bit of a risk” but so were Wings and Move.

“It’s scary because we’ve never done this style before but we’re excited because it’s a new lane, a new year and we’re feeling very positive.”

They didn’t reveal any more about their new sound but their album is expected to be released later this year.

Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall has backed a new community shop in South Tyneside – by donating some of her old clothes.

The South Shields singer surprised Cheryl McDonald and Lynne Davis by calling in at their new Community Corner shop to officially open it.

The pair have been running the shop, in the Monkey Mayhem soft-play centre in Shaftesbury Avenue, South Shields, for a few weeks now and say they have been left overwhelmed by people’s support and generosity.

They were left even more surprised when the star, who shot to fame on ITV1 show The X Factor with her band Little Mix, decided to visit their shop.

Community Corner takes donations from the public and sells them on to raise cash, which is then distributed to groups across South Tyneside seeking financial help.

Ms McDonald said: “It was such a lovely surprise when we got a call to say Jade was on her way down to our shop.

“We only had a few hours’ notice, as Jade had actually come up on a surprise visit to see her mam.

“She was so lovely and down to earth. She seemed to be impressed with what we were doing. It was just fab.

“I never thought when we started this that we would have our own shop, but to have someone like Jade officially open it was just beyond our wildest dreams.

“My daughter Bryony is a huge Little Mix fan, so she was able to meet her idol. It was just the best day ever.

“I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Jade and her mam Norma, and also for the donation of some of Jade’s clothes.”

Jade said: “Cheryl and Lynne are just amazing people to give up so much of their time to raise funds like they are for good causes in South Tyneside.

“You can see how hard they both work, and it’s just great how they are helping the community.”

The pair are hoping to soon make a donation to dance group Stamp to help pay for a new sound system.

Last week, they also delivered £500 worth of toys to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, with the help of Richmond Taxis, after hearing about Natalie Watters, whose young son is being treated at the hospital after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, in May.

After speaking with the mum, the pair decided they wanted to do something to help spruce up the toy department.

Ms McDonald added: “We had seen Natalie’s story on Facebook, and after speaking to her, we decided to see if we could do something.

“It was really sad taking the toys up as you knew just how sick these children were, but also really lovely as you were able to see the smiles on their faces when they were shown the new toys.”

If you’re yet to get your hands on Little Mix’s debut make up range for Collection, then put on a pair of trousers and get down the shops sharpish.

Best of all, the gals have now added a brand new selection of lip balms and an awesome eye palette to the bargainous line and to celebrate, we sat down with Jesy, Leigh-Anne, Perrie and Jade to talk fashion fails, writing album three and that elusive new single we’ve got our fingers crossed for…
SO, the new make up products. Give us the hard sell.

Perrie: So obviously we had our collection before to get each of our looks and then we had the group eyeliner and the group lip gloss and they just did so well. All our fans were buzzing off them they just wanted to get our look so by doing the make up line with Collection, that was the easiest way possible. Because that went so well, we decided to do a group thing which is our new eyeshadow pallet which is like, do you know the Urban Decay one?

The Naked Palette? We’re big fans but our purses not so much.

Perrie: Well this is a bit like that but much more affordable and just as good. Then we’ve all got our new chapsticks – three are scented and then mine isn’t, because I can’t smell! But they are brilliant for us because we travel so much and if you are always on airplanes or if you’ve got dry lips, they’re brilliant.

We need this palette right now. Especially because it’s so affordable. and they’re affordable as well.

Jesy: £3.19!

Jade: As opposed to paying, like £40!

Leigh: And if you feel the quality, they go on really nicely and the colours are gorgeous. And they’re all the best colours as well, like no pointless colours.

Jade: It’s hard to find a palette you can like fit in your bag and these are perfect for that.

So you guys have been using them already?

All: Yesss!

Perrie: Even just sitting there putting them on, they feel so nice.

So what is your one make up product from the collection that you can’t leave the house without?

Jade: I wear my mascara everyday

Jesy: My lipstick, my red lipstick

Leigh: Yeah I’d say my red as well and probably now that these lip balms have come out, the lip balm. I think everyone should always keep a lip balm in their bag.

Perrie: I wear my lip balm everyday cos I keep biting my lips which isn’t good so.

Jade: Lately I’ve been doing brown shadow on my eyes everyday so this is going to come in handy.

Obviously we love your style, but do you ever look back on any of the things you’ve worn in the past and think ‘Oh GOD, what was I thinking?’

Jesy: I think you always do but I think that’s just because of how fashion evolves. I don’t think you can help that really. There’s so many things I look back on and think why was I wearing that, like X Factor, but at the time I loved it so I don’t think you can ever be like ‘Why did I wear that?’ because you liked it then and then eventually it ends up coming back round again anyway.

And you’ve already started writing for the next album. Any sneaky hints you can give us about it?

Jesy: Well we haven’t really had that many sessions, we had 2 with Jessie J which was really fun. We’ve had a few with Nicola Roberts but we haven’t had that many because we’ve been so busy touring! We’re kind of just still in the beginning like still trying to find out what we want to do and where we kind of want to go with it to be honest but we haven’t really got any solid songs yet.

Leigh: I think with all of us, when we hear it we’re going to know that’s the single.
There was a progression in sound from the first album to the second album. Are you looking to step it up again this time around?

Jesy: Yeah definitely, always.

Perrie: We’re always looking to better ourselves. So when we’re in the studio and we hear a song, like Leigh-Anne said, we’ll hear a track and we’ll be buzzing then we’ll start writing over it and if we’re not feeling it, we want to move on and go to something else. Whereas if we’re with different writers, they want to stick at it, but we know what we want and we’re like ‘Nah, we’re bored of this now, let’s go onto something else.’

I think we’re just such perfectionists. So even the people we work with production wise, even the producers are like ‘God’s sake!’ because we’re like ‘Can you take that high bit out? Can you make that different’ all the time.

Leigh: From two albums now, we pretty much know what works and what doesn’t, so I think this is even harder now this is the third album because, we know what we want, it’s just trying to get it.

Jesy: Sometimes we literally start from scratch and that can be the best thing because that’s how ‘move’ came about, we literally created the beat with the producer and that was amazing but then sometimes we’ll go in and the producer will play us the beat and we’ll just hate it and there’s no like vibe for it at all.

Perrie: Then you’re stuck in the studio all night like, ‘Arghh,’ it’s really dull.

Jesy: It is hard but you get there. We always know when we hear it, when we hear the beat we always know.

Is there anybody on the list that you’d kind of really like to work with this time around?

Leigh: We wanted to work with Naughty Boy but he’s very busy.

Perrie: I think Sia, she is an incredible songwriter, like literally if she could write a song for us I think I’d just die and go to heaven. She’s incredible.

Jade: We’re open to working with loads of people. We have a little family of writers and producers that we love to work with every time and then some we met on the second album and now we love them, but then at the same time we’re always open minded for new opportunities.

Leigh: I think we should work with Rudimental.

Jesy: I’d love to work with them, they’re wicked. MNEK he did ‘Nothing Feels Like You’ on our album like that’s one of my favourites to perform on this tour. I think it’s going to be a lot of peoples favourites because it is sooo, it’s wicked

Perrie: I’d say Pharrell but I highly doubt that’s going to happen, but I mean chuck that out there.
Do you have a date when you’re aiming for it to land?

Jesy: Just when it happens really, we’re not going to force it. I think that’s when it can go a bit wrong because that’s when you’re just putting out stuff that you don’t feel passionate about.

Leigh: We think it will be the end of the year

Perrie: We don’t know, if we don’t have any songs then we can’t so.

Leigh: But do expect a new single

Oh, exciting! But you haven’t decided on it yet?

Perrie: [Laughs] We haven’t even written it!

Leigh: It doesn’t exist! But it will! We’re working on it!

We’re very much looking forward to it! Thanks gals.

British pop stars Little Mix have canceled their entire North American tour, including a Friday, Sept. 19, Phoenix date at Comerica Theatre, as they continue work on their next album.

In a statement, they wrote, “As a group we decided that creating an amazing 3rd album had to take priority. We’re so sorry to all the Mixers who bought tickets to come and see the show. As soon as the album is finished, we promise to make plans to return to the US and perform for you all.”

The members of Little Mix were thrown together not by fate but Simon Cowell on the U.K. set of “The X Factor” in 2011 and became the first group in “X Factor” history to win the competition. Following their victory, they signed with Cowell’s label, Syco Records, and released a rendition of Damien Rice’s “Cannonball” as their winner’s single. Their biggest U.S. hit to date is “Wings.”

If the thought of working with Little Mix gives you wings, or you’re simply crazy for arts and crafts, it’s time to get your pens and pencils ready!

A nationwide competition is launching today (7th October), giving youngsters a unique opportunity to create a Christmas card design for a brand new charity card pack starring chart-topping girl group, Little Mix….but entrants have got to be quick, the contest will close on 14th October 2013!

The ‘Sketch Santa’ competition, launched by ITV’s Daybreak and supported by Hallmark, offers children aged 6-16 a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have their drawings brought to life as a card this Christmas. The winning design will be modelled by Little Mix and featured in a limited edition six pack of cards alongside five festive designs starring the group. What’s more, the lucky winner will be announced on national TV too!

Sold as an official product for ITV’s ‘Text Santa’ appeal 2013, the special card packs will be available nationwide from and selected Hallmark stores later this year. Each pack sold will see a portion of the proceeds donated to the ‘Text Santa’ appeal; which in turn supports six worthy charities based in the UK.
Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, said: “We love the idea of getting creative for Christmas and what better reason to get involved in a bit of festive fun than to help the Text Santa appeal? We had such a good time creating our cards for this special pack and now we’re really looking forward to seeing what the Daybreak viewers come up with as their contribution!”

To enter the art contest, children are asked to create a Santa-based design inspired by what Christmas means to them. Entries must be original, creative and drawn on A4 paper in a portrait setting.

Tamsyn Johnston Hughes, Sketch Santa Judge and Campaign Manager for Hallmark (the card and gift specialist helping to create and print the winning design), said:
“Whether you’re a devoted ‘Mixer’, a fundraiser or you simply love to get creative, the Sketch Santa competition really is a fantastic opportunity. Not only could you be changing the lives of those linked to the Text Santa charities but you could also enjoy some life-changing experiences yourself, such as starring on national TV and seeing your very own Christmas design hit the shelves.

“When it comes to penning that winning design, I’d concentrate on two things. Firstly, make sure you base your design on what Christmas means to you as that personal touch will show through in your artwork. Secondly, remember the critical role that Christmas cards play in our festive traditions, they’re kept in the hearts of our homes and are used to decorate mantelpieces, windowsills and walls. As such, your design will need to stand out in this setting.

“We wish everyone involved the best of luck and we can’t wait to see all the wonderful designs that come through. This is the third year we’ve been privileged to work with Daybreak on a creative campaign such as this and we’re sure it’s going to be our best one yet!”

The ‘Text Santa’ appeal aims to raise awareness and donations for UK charities that make a difference to people’s lives. For 2013, the six chosen charities set to benefit from funds raised include: Age UK, Barnardo’s, Beat Bullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.
